Hi, I’m Cammie and I have over 13 years of experience within the worlds of higher education and student development, engaged learning, women empowerment/development, international education, community engagement and non profit management. Originally from Dallas, TX, I have consistently created a pathway towards social justice and civic engagement, the foundation to my being. Through my experiences, I have been lucky to connect these worlds and implement successful initiatives within institutions and communities throughout the world.

I am a proud first-generational college student and hold a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Austin and a M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Louisiana State University A&M.

Currently, I am the Senior Leadership Fellow for Bard College’s Center for Civic Engagement and Open Society University Network, as well as a member of Campus Compact.

I have served as the Associate Dean for Experiential Learning and Civic Engagement while overseeing several domestic and international network experiential learning and leadership development initiatives.

To assist in amplifying the voices of the next generation around women’s rights, I have taught  courses on women leadership and empowerment:

“Women and Leadership” and “Women and COVID 19: Activism, Leadership, and Global Engagement”  courses at Bard College.

Additionally, I developed and launched Dutchess Community College’s Service Learning Department, which served over 50 nonprofit agencies within the county and accounted for over 11,000 annual hours of service.

Prior to my tenure at Dutchess Community College, I served as Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Enhancement at Marist College, which led to the founding of a female leadership program, Ladies Empowering Athletics, and created an expansive life-skills program for student athletes.

While grateful and ecstatic for the opportunity to work in higher education, I decided to learn in depth the field of non profit management and civic engagement. This led to overseeing several prevention empowerment-based programs as a Prevention Coordinator at Grace Smith House, Inc., a non-profit domestic-violence agency serving residents of Dutchess County, New York.

In addition to my professional work, I have spoken on several panels and workshops around the importance of civic engagement, women’s rights and equity and inclusion both nationally and internationally.
