Cammie Jones, Founder & CEO
Cammie Jones, who is originally from Dallas, TX, has spent over 16 years in higher education and nonprofit leadership, continually paving the way for social justice and civic engagement. She is a first-generation college student with a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Louisiana State University A&M.
Cammie is the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Partners for Campus-Community Engagement where she oversees several dynamic initiatives and programs that enhance the civic capacity of nonprofit and higher education institutions in Pennsylvania and New York.
Additionally, she is the CEO and Founder of J. Jones Consulting, LLC. where she works alongside non profits and higher ed institutions on civic engagement initiatives and strategic planning. She also serves as the Bard Center for Civic Engagement and Open Society University Network (OSUN) Senior Fellow. During her time at Bard, Cammie worked as an Assistant and Associate Dean of Experiential Learning and Civic Engagement, where she oversaw experiential learning and campus/community relationships and assisted on the Carnegie Classification team, which obtained classification in 2020. Furthermore she has served in high level executive roles at Dutchess Community College, Marist College and Grace Smith House, Inc.
During her tenure at Bard, she served as the Associate Dean of Experiential Learning and Civic Engagement, leading several innovative domestic and international network experiential learning and leadership development initiatives including the management of the Engaged Liberal Arts and Sciences and several international civic engagement offices in Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Palestine, and Russia.
Additionally, she successfully developed and launched Dutchess Community College’s (DCC) Service-Learning Department where she worked with over 60 non-profit organizations to advance service-learning efforts throughout Poughkeepsie. Her focus on community engagement initiatives excelled as she served as Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Enhancement at Marist College, which led to the founding of a women empowerment leadership program for undergraduate students, Ladies Empowering Athletics as well as an expansive life-skills program for all student-athletes. While grateful and ecstatic for the opportunity to work in higher education, she further engaged in key community social justice efforts by overseeing several prevention empowerment-based programs as the Prevention Coordinator at Grace Smith House, Inc., a non-profit domestic-violence agency serving residents of Dutchess County, New York.
To assist in amplifying the voices of the next generation leaders, she has taught courses on women empowerment including, Women and Leadership, Women and COVID 19: Activism, Leadership, and Global Engagement, and recently Women and the Pandemic within the Open Society University Network(OSUN). Furthermore, she has coordinated several global and domestic summits on civic engagement, youth-action leadership development, and the future of women’s rights. She currently serves as an adjunct professor at Bard College/ OSUN, where she teaches civic engagement classes. Women and Leadership, Women and COVID 19: Activism, Leadership, and Global Engagement, and Women and the Pandemic have all been offered. She has also organized a number of international and domestic conferences on civic engagement, youth leadership development, and the future of women's rights.
Cammie has devoted her life to service and leadership, sitting on various boards and committees for local NGOs and collecting multiple awards for her contributions to higher education and community engagement. She was recently appointed to the board of directors of the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IASRSLCE) where she is the Special Programming Co-chair, participates in AACU’s Global Learning Conference Planning Committee and is the Civic Engagement Chair of the Westchester Black Women's Political Caucus. She also serves on the Sister to Sister International, Inc. advisory board. Cammie has garnered multiple honors for her civic engagement and community development leadership. She was named to the Chamber Foundation Inc.'s 2021 ATHENA Award, as well as the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce's 2012 Forty Under 40 Class. Other honors include the N4A 2014 Professional Promise Award for Region 1, the AWCC 2017 Forty Under 40 Class, and the Arc of Dutchess 2017 Peggy Martinko Community Trailblazer Award.
In addition to her professional work, she has spoken on national and international panels and workshops around the importance of civic engagement, women’s rights, and equity and inclusion.
